Stephanie Simmons Warlick
Author

Stephanie Simmons Warlick has always found solace in the power of imagination. As a child, the big and sometimes frightening world seemed filled with shadows and sounds that easily unsettled her sensitive soul. It was her mother’s inventive storytelling in these moments that Stephanie developed a love for whimsical stories - vivid tales that were quirky and fun and painted with so much detail that they transformed even the scariest of nights into a canvas of peace and laughter.  Squirrels Bowling on the Roof is her delightful debut into the world of children's literature and a testament to her lifelong journey of finding joy in the unexpected.

When she's not writing tales aimed to spark joy and curiosity in young minds, Stephanie indulges herself in photography, a hobby that further enhances her keen eye for the beauty in the mundane. She’s also an avid pickleball player, an activity that echoes her belief in the joy of movement and the magic of play — themes she weaves into her writing. Her love for floral arranging mirrors elements of her writing as well: carefully crafted, colorful, and designed to bring a smile to anyone who comes across them.

At the heart of everything, you get a sense of how Stephanie holds dear her family and friends as they are the true inspiration behind her stories.  You’ll find little hints of their impact sprinkled in her work.  She hopes her stories inspire us all to laugh more, find the extraordinary in the ordinary, and cherish the moments of calm amidst the chaos of life.

Stephanie’s career path includes extensive experience serving in roles that supported and further fostered her need to build and create.  In addition to children’s books, Stephanie lets her creativity shine by serving as a fractional Chief Operating Officer for her company, 5ft View and through her innovative coaching program, Stand in the Gap Method.  Though a Delaware native and long-time Pittsburgh resident - a detail she likes to subtly highlight in her book illustrations - Stephanie currently resides in Maryland with James, her husband of 27 years.
